“It's important to have a voice, it's more important to use it.”

Who is that guy... you know... the VOICE of JOHNfm

Coincidently, his name is John.  He's a radio veteran who worked town to town, up and down the dial at many stations... including major markets like Washington DC and Dayton Ohio, along with lesser know markets including Lima Ohio, Hagerstown Maryland, Frederick Maryland and Martinsburg West Virginia.  Frustrated with the politics, big egos, freaky sales people and maniacal small town owner/operators of radio, he left after 15+ years in the biz for a new life in Information Technology.

That was back in 2000.  However, as they say... "you may leave the biz, but the biz never leaves you."

With the help of Spacial Audio's SAM Broadcaster, a low power fm transmitter, and a streaming internet connection, it's now possible for even the little guy to have a voice again.

So, John returned to the "biz" on a much, much, much, smaller scale.

Oh heck, why am I talking in the third person about myself... it's kind of creepy isn't it?

The trend in radio lately has seen stations image themselves around a person's first name.  Jack is all over the place.  I've heard of Alice.  There's even Willie.  Radio is constantly trying to fool the audience into believing it's reinventing itself.  Yet, it's the same old consultant driven, corporate funded, spoon fed crap that has always been there.  Just in a fresh wrapper.  If you took a crap in a box, and wrapped it with pretty paper and put a bow on it, it still would be crap right?  Right.

Where this "station" will be a little different, is that I'm playing the music I want to hear.  Coincidentally, I hope it's some of what you want to hear too!  Music is the stuff memories are made of... and JOHNfm hopes to be the soundtrack of your life (or at least my life).

So, if we take a few diversions along the way, and play some stuff you aren't super familiar with... hang with us.  If you like the sound of the station, you'll probably enjoy some of the album tracks we spin.  Some should have been hits, but were ignored by mainstream radio at the time.

With a little effort, I may even get around to putting some samples of my glory days in radio up here.  Don't hold your breath though.

It's a big musical universe out there.  Thanks for stopping by and listening to my ((( narrowcast ))).
